Obama bullies weak Republicans

After 4 years of blaming Republicans for all of the country’s problems, bullying his political opponents, and spewing vitriolic rhetoric against Republicans, Obama has apparently crushed Republican leaders into submission on the sequester:  “Days before the March 1 deadline, Senate Republicans are circulating a draft bill that would cancel $85 billion in across-the-board spending cuts and instead turn over authority to President Barack Obama to achieve the same level of savings under a plan to be filed by March 8. The five- page document, which has the tacit support of Senate GOP leaders, represents a remarkable shift for the party. Having railed against Senate Democrats for not passing a budget, Republicans are now proposing that Congress surrender an important piece of its Constitutional “power of the purse” for the last seven months of this fiscal year. As proposed, lawmakers would retain the power to overturn the president’s spending plan by March 22, but only under a resolution of disapproval that would demand two-thirds majorities in both the House and Senate to prevail over an Obama veto.”  The Constitution demands checks and balances– the Republican Party’s leadership is inexcusably weak. Obama openly admits that he doesn’t care about the Constitution’s separation of powers, and weak Republican leaders are violating their oaths of office by enabling Obama to get away with being a tyrant. The Founders of America designed our system of government around the concept of Liberty– less than 300 years later, we have a U.S. President who is unchecked by an opposition party that has disgracefully surrendered.

Update: Obama REALLY WANTS to destroy America— and he won’t accept any compromise from the weak GOP that falls short of that goal:  “The White House is threatening a presidential veto of a Senate Republican measure that would give President Barack Obama more authority and flexibility to find $85 billion in spending cuts this year… The White House says it instead backs a Democratic measure to replace the cuts with tax hikes on millionaires and spending reductions over 10 years… Neither bill is likely to survive Senate procedural obstacles Thursday.”

Update #2: Obama thinks he’s putting the GOP in its place by disrespecting its elected lawmakers: Regarding the sequester, Obama “gave GOP lawmakers as much as seven minutes, a rare face-to-face encounter that the White House described as a “meeting.”… The White House’s characterization of this momentary huddle at the Capitol as a meeting illuminates Mr. Obama’s strategy in dealing with Republicans on the budget cuts and other fiscal deadlines. With speeches and other staged events, the president has tried to build public pressure for his agenda of tax increases coupled with spending cuts. But he has made little time for negotiating directly with lawmakers who oppose his plans… His strategy worked in the “fiscal cliff” negotiations at the end of last year, resulting in a tax hike on households earning more than $450,000 per year and a temporary extension of the nation’s borrowing limit. There were few direct negotiating sessions with Republicans, the president preferring instead to call on the public to pressure GOP lawmakers into making a deal. Now he is trying the same tactics…  Pressed by reporters about the substance of a meeting that lasted less time than the average person’s morning shower, Mr. Carney conceded that the president mainly discussed his “anticipation” of a Friday meeting at the White House with congressional leaders. That session, widely perceived as a photo opportunity, will be held on the same day that the budget cuts are to begin taking effect.”

Obama openly admits that he doesn’t care about the “Separation of Powers”

Forget the U.S. Constitution: Obama says, “Where Congress is not willing to act, we’re going to go ahead and do it ourselves.”

Update: “President Barack Obama is tired of waiting for Congress to move on legislation to reduce carbon emissions, and his administration is poised to move forward on actions to do just that—including a move that will effectively eliminate the possibility of any new coal plant opening in the United States, experts say.” So, not only is Obama once again acting unilaterally and trashing the separation of powers– but he’s also following through on his promise to destroy the coal industry.

Strange Update: Does Obama have a split personality disorder too? America is incredulous now that he’s been taped saying this: “You know, the one thing about being president is, after four years, you get pretty humble… You realize all the mistakes you made. But you also realize you can’t do things by yourself. That’s not how our system works. You’ve got to have the help and the goodwill of Congress.” Right…

Obama is going to tell you how to run your home.

“Under the broad banner of “health,” the federal government not only is telling Americans what to eat, it’s also telling us to make our homes safer. This week, the Obama administration released a “bold new vision for addressing the nation’s health and economic burdens caused by preventable hazards associated with the home.””

Obama believes that his power is unlimited, and is in open denial:
“This is something I’ve struggled with throughout my presidency.  The problem is that I’m the president of the United States, I’m not the emperor of the United States.” — Obama

Obama’s flagrantly unconstitutional recess appointments

Obama bypasses Congress and makes an unprecedented move that threatened to ignite “an all-out legislative war with Congress.”

Update: On January 25, 2013, a federal appeals court “overturned President Obama’s controversial recess appointments from last year, ruling he abused his powers and acted when the Senate was not actually in a recess… The judges ruled that the appointments he made to the National Labor Relations Board are illegal… They said Mr. Obama erred when he said he could claim the power to determine when he could make appointments… Allowing the president to define the scope of his own appointments power would eviscerate the Constitution’s separation of powers.”

Obamacare is a tool of tyranny.

As the GOP always knew, Obamacare is a tool of tyranny.  You don’t even need to be anti-gun control to find it repulsive that Obama is now using Obamacare to compel doctors to ask their patients about gun ownership and “gun safety.” This isn’t a question of health or security– this is about freedom and privacy. Obama should not use legislation such as Obamacare for unintended purposes so that he can advance his political agenda.

There are certainly desirable gun control measures that should be taken– but Obama won’t let the American people have stricter background checks unless they also accept a national database of law-abiding gun owners. It’s all or nothing, to Obama.

Obama wants more power over American businesses.

“President Barack Obama signaled if he wins a second term he would appoint a Secretary of Business to oversee newly-consolidated government agencies.”

Obama’s non-deportation policy = unilateral amnesty

Who cares about what Congress or the Courts say? Answer: Not Obama.

Obama’s abuse of power

Easy solution: If Congress refuses to do something, Obama will just go ahead and do it himself through an “executive order.”

National Emergency: Obama needs more power

Key Question: Why does Obama need to declare a “national emergency” over the swine flu “to enable hospitals to handle a flood of sick people when there is no flood of sick people (and the pandemic seems to be fizzling out)?” Answer: Obama wants more power for himself, and less liberty for you.
