Obama the Tyrant

Keeping in mind the complexity of the gun control issue, the fact of the matter is that the Second Amendment is as binding as the First Amendment is– and it must be respected.

Obama in 2008: “When you all go home and you’re talking to your buddies and you say, ah ‘He wants to take my gun away.’  You’ve heard it here,  I’m on television so everybody knows it.  I believe in the Second Amendment. I believe in people’s lawful right to bear arms. I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I won’t take your handgun away.” That is a direct quote.

Contrast that to 2013, when “the White House is weighing a far broader and more comprehensive approach to curbing the nation’s gun violence than simply reinstating an expired ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition, according to multiple people involved in the administration’s discussions.  A working group led by Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for firearm buyers, track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, strengthen mental health checks, and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, the sources said.”

Surely we need to take better measures to keep guns out of the wrong hands. But creating a national government database of law-abiding Americans simply exercising their Second Amendment constitutional rights is uncalled for, and constitutes yet another step toward tyranny. Obama’s Department of Homeland Security has purchased 450 million rounds of .40-caliber hollow point bullets— and now Obama wants to take away American citizens’ guns.  Our Founders understood the implications: “To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.” It’s tyranny.

Update: Obama is known for abusing his executive power (“a campaign labeled “We Can’t Wait” pushes unilateral directives and programs from the White House as the only way to push ahead on the president’s agenda when a do-nothing Congress fails to act”) and openly admits that he doesn’t respect the Constitution’s separation of powers and now VP Joe Biden has announced that Obama intends to issue executive orders to bypass Congress on gun control.

Update #2: Obama’s true intent is clear: he’s now been quoted as saying “I don’t believe people should be able to own guns.” Obama is so egocentric that he actually believes his personal opinion is more authoritative than the U.S. Constitution.
