Obama throws U.S. national security over the fiscal cliff

Obama was ready and willing to go over the fiscal cliff at the end of 2012, and the last-minute fiscal cliff deal on January 1, 2013 merely delayed sequestration for another 2 months.  Now that March 1, 2013 is approaching and out-of-control government spending continues under Obama, our national security is at stake: “The Pentagon notified Congress on Wednesday it will be furloughing its civilian workforce of 800,000 employees if sequestration goes into effect March 1. Defense officials have warned lawmakers that sequestration will devastate the military and lead to a hollow force.”

Update: How comforting: The White House has raised the terror threat and warned that illegal immigrants could flood the borders due to sequestration. Of course, Republicans have pointed out that Obama “is setting up “a false choice” between tax increases and security. They said the other alternative is to make $85 billion in spending cuts in other parts of the budget, rather than the across-the-board cuts that make up the sequester.”  Obama apparently believes that U.S. national security should be sacrificed so that he can continue wasting American taxpayer dollars (giving paid time off to federal employees so they can spend their time helping unions instead, spending hundreds of millions of dollars on lavish “conferences”, refusing to use $45 billion in unspent taxpayer dollars to offset the $85 billion in sequester cuts, spending money to “find advancements in beef jerky from France” and conduct research to determine “what lessons about democracy and decision-making could be learned — from fish”, and so many other ridiculous things) while maintaining his own paycheck.

Tellingly, it was Obama who first proposed the idea of the sequester— “legendary journalist Bob Woodward… who made his name and reputation in reporting the Watergate scandal that led to the resignation of Richard Nixon… noted—as he has before—that both President Obama and his would-be Treasury Secretary Jack Lew lied on the campaign trail by saying the sequester originated with House Republicans.

Update #2: And just to show they aren’t kidding: “The sequester is officially still three days away, but the Obama administration already is making the first cuts, with officials confirming that the Homeland Security Department already has released several hundred illegal immigrants from detention— they’re refusing to confirm “how many immigrants were released or how they were selected.” However, it was subsequently revealed that Obama’s Department of Homeland Security plans to release 5,000 illegal immigrant detainees due to sequestration.  Obama’s Department of Homeland Security is also planning to furlough 5,000 border patrol agents.  Now, the Obama’s U.S. Federal Aviation Administration says it will furlough air traffic controllers (because clearly, Obama’s urge to spend is more important than air safety).  According to the House Armed Services Committee and Army Chief of Staff, the Marine Corps will lose 57,000 soldiers, “by the end of calendar year 2013, less than half of our ground units will be trained to the minimum readiness level required for deployment,” the Army will lose 143,000 soldiers, 78% of Army units will “significantly curtail training,” the Navy will delay the deployment of an aircraft carrier, and there will be a 20% pay cut for 800,000 civilian employees working for the Department of Defense. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder claims “the Justice Department will be handicapped in some of its most vital missions to prevent terrorist attacks and crime” with furloughs of FBI agents, ATF agents, DEA agents, prosecutors. The infamous Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters claims that 170 million jobs could be lost in America— a ludicrous claim, considering that the total U.S. population (including children and the elderly) is 315 million as of February 2013.  Obama’s Education Secretary Arne Duncan has been caught lying about teachers getting pink slips because of the looming sequester. Obama himself was caught lying about U.S. Capitol janitors and security guards getting a pay cut.

Update #3: There’s a very interesting editorial based on former Superior Court Judge Andrew Napolitano’s commentary about the above:  “… you see the strategy: Apply the sequester in the most panic-inducing ways possible so as to confirm Obama’s predictions of Armageddon and create a backlash against Republicans. In other words, intentionally pursue a strategy of making the federal government’s performance the worst it can possibly be, all to demonstrate how horrible it is to cut 2.3 from the projected increase in federal spending. That, the judge argues, is a dereliction of Obama’s duty as president, and “almost an impeachable offense”… Napolitano is right. Obama is not trying to keep things running well in the face of a budget shortfall. He is trying to do the opposite. He is deliberately making decisions that will make the federal government’s performance worse, and hurt the country, as a way of proving his point… he prefers to release prisoners, furlough border patrol officers and generally go down the path of sabotaging the country to make a political point, since he’s confident the media will not only let him skate, but help him blame his political opponents for it.”

Bob Woodward declares war on Obama.

Bob Woodward, who famously reported the Watergate scandal that led to the resignation of Richard Nixon, is continuing to report that Obama is to blame for the implementation of the sequester— he says that the sequester is “the “brain child” of the White House” and “Obama personally approved of the plan.” The White House has “pushed back” against Bob Woodward on Twitter– a move that Obama already regrets.

obama22

Now, Bob Woodward’s pride is taking front center stage, and he’s “ripped into President Barack Obama… for a decision not to deploy an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf because of budget concerns. “Can you imagine Ronald Reagan sitting there and saying, ‘Oh, by the way, I can’t do this because of some budget document?'” Woodward said.  “Or George W. Bush saying, ‘You know, I’m not going to invade Iraq because I can’t get the aircraft carriers I need?'” Or even Bill Clinton saying, ‘You know, I’m not going to attack Saddam Hussein’s intelligence headquarters,’ … because of some budget document?”… “Under the Constitution, the President is commander-in-chief and employs the force. And so we now have the President going out because of this piece of paper and this agreement. ‘I can’t do what I need to do to protect the country,'” Woodward said. “That’s a kind of madness that I haven’t seen in a long time,” he said.”

Update: Wow, this really is war! Bob Woodward told CNN that a “very senior person” at the White House warned him in an email that he would “regret doing this.”

Update #2: Fox News made a very interesting point about Woodward’s response: “There was something very quaint about Bob Woodward’s concern about the attacks he’s been receiving from the Obama White House. Here’s what Woodward told Politico: “I think if Obama himself saw the way they’re dealing with some of this, he would say, ‘Whoa, we don’t tell any reporter ‘you’re going to regret challenging us.’ ” Woodward assumes that if only President Obama knew about the nastygrams and threats and attacks from his team the president would step in and rein in his over-eager staffers. If only Obama knew! Woodward, once celebrated by Democrats for yanking down Richard Nixon’s imperial presidency, now seems puzzled by the doings of the current and even more imperial Obama presidency.”  Obama is responsible for his own administration, but Woodward– perhaps out of fear of being labeled a racist for criticizing ‘the first African-American President’?– continues to make excuses for Obama, and is reluctant to place blame on Obama directly. Every action of the Obama Administration is attributable to Obama directly– he is directly responsible for those to whom he delegates authority, and he’s responsible for knowing what’s going on: this is a legal principle.

Update #3: It’s now been revealed that “A day after Woodward’s claim that a senior White House official had told him he would “regret” writing a column criticizing President Obama’s stance on the sequester, Lanny Davis, a longtime close advisor to President Bill Clinton, told WMAL’s Mornings on the Mall Thursday he had received similar threats for newspaper columns he had written about Obama in the Washington Times.”

Davis told WMAL that his editor, John Solomon, “received a phone call from a senior Obama White House official who didn’t like some of my columns, even though I’m a supporter of Obama. I couldn’t imagine why this call was made.”  Davis says the Obama aide told Solomon, “that if he continued to run my columns, he would lose, or his reporters would lose their White House credentials.”… “I called three senior people at the White House, and I said, ‘I want this person to be told this can never happen again, and it’s inappropriate.’  I got a call back from someone who was in the White House saying it will never happen again.””

Obama’s thuggery is completely out of control. Journalist Ron Fournier has now come forward with the same story:

obama24

Fournier says: “I had angered the White House, particularly a senior White House official who I am unable to identify because I promised the person anonymity… The official angered by my Woodward tweet sent me an indignant e-mail. “What’s next, a Nazi analogy?” the official wrote, chastising me for spreading “bull**** like that” I was not offended by the note, mild in comparison to past exchanges with this official. But it was the last straw in a relationship that had deteriorated… I received several e-mails and telephone calls from this White House official filled with vulgarity, abusive language, and virtually the same phrase that Politico characterized as a veiled threat.”

Obama’s strategy is beyond the obvious:

Obama bullies weak Republicans

After 4 years of blaming Republicans for all of the country’s problems, bullying his political opponents, and spewing vitriolic rhetoric against Republicans, Obama has apparently crushed Republican leaders into submission on the sequester:  “Days before the March 1 deadline, Senate Republicans are circulating a draft bill that would cancel $85 billion in across-the-board spending cuts and instead turn over authority to President Barack Obama to achieve the same level of savings under a plan to be filed by March 8. The five- page document, which has the tacit support of Senate GOP leaders, represents a remarkable shift for the party. Having railed against Senate Democrats for not passing a budget, Republicans are now proposing that Congress surrender an important piece of its Constitutional “power of the purse” for the last seven months of this fiscal year. As proposed, lawmakers would retain the power to overturn the president’s spending plan by March 22, but only under a resolution of disapproval that would demand two-thirds majorities in both the House and Senate to prevail over an Obama veto.”  The Constitution demands checks and balances– the Republican Party’s leadership is inexcusably weak. Obama openly admits that he doesn’t care about the Constitution’s separation of powers, and weak Republican leaders are violating their oaths of office by enabling Obama to get away with being a tyrant. The Founders of America designed our system of government around the concept of Liberty– less than 300 years later, we have a U.S. President who is unchecked by an opposition party that has disgracefully surrendered.

Update: Obama REALLY WANTS to destroy America— and he won’t accept any compromise from the weak GOP that falls short of that goal:  “The White House is threatening a presidential veto of a Senate Republican measure that would give President Barack Obama more authority and flexibility to find $85 billion in spending cuts this year… The White House says it instead backs a Democratic measure to replace the cuts with tax hikes on millionaires and spending reductions over 10 years… Neither bill is likely to survive Senate procedural obstacles Thursday.”

Update #2: Obama thinks he’s putting the GOP in its place by disrespecting its elected lawmakers: Regarding the sequester, Obama “gave GOP lawmakers as much as seven minutes, a rare face-to-face encounter that the White House described as a “meeting.”… The White House’s characterization of this momentary huddle at the Capitol as a meeting illuminates Mr. Obama’s strategy in dealing with Republicans on the budget cuts and other fiscal deadlines. With speeches and other staged events, the president has tried to build public pressure for his agenda of tax increases coupled with spending cuts. But he has made little time for negotiating directly with lawmakers who oppose his plans… His strategy worked in the “fiscal cliff” negotiations at the end of last year, resulting in a tax hike on households earning more than $450,000 per year and a temporary extension of the nation’s borrowing limit. There were few direct negotiating sessions with Republicans, the president preferring instead to call on the public to pressure GOP lawmakers into making a deal. Now he is trying the same tactics…  Pressed by reporters about the substance of a meeting that lasted less time than the average person’s morning shower, Mr. Carney conceded that the president mainly discussed his “anticipation” of a Friday meeting at the White House with congressional leaders. That session, widely perceived as a photo opportunity, will be held on the same day that the budget cuts are to begin taking effect.”

Wages ‘recovery’ is worse than jobs ‘recovery’

“As bad as the current job recovery has been — and it’s by far the weakest since World War II — the recovery in wages has been far worse.”

Al-Qaeda is NOT “on the run” from Obama.

After the terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya on the 9/11 anniversary, Obama was forced to change his campaign speeches by taking out the false claim that al-Qaeda was “on the run.”  Subsequently, in January 2013, 30 hostages were killed “when Algerian forces stormed a desert gas plant in a bid to free many dozens of Western and local captives” from Islamic terrorists linked to al-Qaeda. Seven Americans were among the hostages, and three of the dead hostages were Americans. Contrast this to what a real leader– Ronald Reagan– accomplished in regard to the Iranian hostage crisis of 1979:
Image

It turns out that even prior to the Algerian hostage crisis, Obama was lying to the American people when he claimed that al-Qaeda was “on the run”: “The U.S.-led military coalition in Afghanistan incorrectly reported a decline in Taliban attacks last year, and officials said Tuesday that there was actually no change in the number of attacks on international troops from 2011 to 2012.”

Disturbingly, some of the same Islamic terrorists who took hostages in Algeria also participated in the terrorist attack that killed 4 Americans and destroyed the U.S. Consulate in Libya just a few months beforehand.

Obama stalks Republicans

Obama creepily started collecting Republicans’ e-mail addresses.

… following a previous incident in which the White House sent hundreds of unsolicited spam e-mails about Obamacare.

Update: Obama is spamming everyone— not just Republicans.

Obamacare: A REALLY expensive mistake.

We can see that Obamacare is a dismal failure. At the same time, Obama has the ‘honor’ of setting a new record– he’s increased the national debt in his first 4-year term more than all 42 U.S. Presidents from George Washington to Bill Clinton combined, and we’re now more than $15 trillion in debt. Can it get any worse?? Yes, it can! “Obamacare will increase the long-term federal deficit by $6.2 trillion, according to a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report released today.”

Run, Carney. Run!

The Obama Administration’s corruption is staggering. After overlooking the misuse of stimulus funds for Obama’s political cronies and the nomination of political donors for influential public positions (including John Kerry), even MSNBC is stunned: “MSNBC’s Chuck Todd criticized Monday the new fundraising efforts of President Obama’s dark money group, Organizing for Action, calling a scheme for high donors to meet regularly with Obama “the definition of selling access.” Todd was describing the quarterly meetings that will be enjoyed by OFA’s $500,000 donors.”  Disturbingly, “Giving or raising $500,000 or more puts donors on a national advisory board for Mr. Obama’s group and the privilege of attending quarterly meetings with the president, along with other meetings at the White House.”

Hilariously, “the organization’s leadership has been courting corporate donors” and Chuck Todd has expressed confusion over the fact that Obama (while campaigning) said he believed that “money has a strangle hold over the entire political system.”

And it gets funnier: White House Press Secretary Jay Carney ran away from the podium while reporters were still questioning him about this issue, after failing “to defend this arrangement” and “implausibly stating that the Obama group is somehow not related to Obama.”

Obama openly admits that he doesn’t care about the “Separation of Powers”

Forget the U.S. Constitution: Obama says, “Where Congress is not willing to act, we’re going to go ahead and do it ourselves.”

Update: “President Barack Obama is tired of waiting for Congress to move on legislation to reduce carbon emissions, and his administration is poised to move forward on actions to do just that—including a move that will effectively eliminate the possibility of any new coal plant opening in the United States, experts say.” So, not only is Obama once again acting unilaterally and trashing the separation of powers– but he’s also following through on his promise to destroy the coal industry.

Strange Update: Does Obama have a split personality disorder too? America is incredulous now that he’s been taped saying this: “You know, the one thing about being president is, after four years, you get pretty humble… You realize all the mistakes you made. But you also realize you can’t do things by yourself. That’s not how our system works. You’ve got to have the help and the goodwill of Congress.” Right…

John Kerry is a disgrace.

Obama’s new Secretary of State John Kerry has displayed his ignorance for the world to see.

First, he decided to skip Israel on his first trip abroad as Secretary of State, and visit Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Qater instead. Then, we found out that he’s scheduling his second dining experience with Syria’s mass murderer president Bashar al-Assad, who’s brutally killed more than 24,000 Syrian civilians since March 2011.

But now we realize that John Kerry isn’t just immoral and insulting to our allies– he’s also ignorant of world affairs:

“Secretary of State John Kerry says the greatest challenge to U.S. foreign policy is not emerging China or Middle East instability. It’s Congress… He called the budget impasse a threat. The State Department has said automatic spending cuts would jeopardize $2.6 billion in aid, security assistance and other international programs. Kerry said legislators need to avoid “senseless cuts.” Otherwise, he said his credibility as a diplomat might be damaged.”

Actually, John Kerry never had any credibility as a diplomat.
obama17   obama18

… which is why Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov didn’t bother to return John Kerry’s phone call for 6 DAYS.

Update: The oh-so-illustrious John Kerry has already made a ridiculous gaffe: “On the eve of his first trip abroad, John Kerry invented the Central Asian country of “Kyrzakhstan.” He was attempting to praise U.S. diplomats’ work in emerging democracies in the region, and said “they support democratic institutions in Kyrzakhstan and Georgia.””

Update #2: John Kerry just keeps ’em coming! He’s now been quoted expressing “his “hope” that “Iran itself will make its choice to move down the path of a diplomatic solution.” In response to Obama’s “diplomacy” policy, Iran has been ramping up its nuclear program, initiating proxy attacks against Israel, and threatening to kidnap Americans. Iran’s government spokesman announced that Obama’s foolish offer of diplomacy toward Iran shows that America has “failed.” And John Kerry is here to make sure that America keeps failing.

Update #3: John Kerry has made a bizarre ‘defense’ of U.S. 1st Amendment freedom of speech during his European tour: “In America, you have a right to be stupid, if you want to be.”  John Kerry is trash talking Americans abroad, and the U.S. Secretary of State doesn’t have a right to be stupid– a mere 1  month into the job, he deserves to be impeached.
