It turns out that the U.S. State Department had credible information that an attack was going to happen 48 hours prior, but didn’t do anything about it and failed to warn the diplomats.
It also turns out that “sensitive documents have gone missing from the consulate in Benghazi” in the aftermath of the attack– including a list of names of Libyans working with Americans, “putting them potentially at risk from extremist groups” and undermining America’s credibility.
